SOME FINAL FACTS AND FIGURES

We have been back for a week and a bit now and I thought I would share some of our travelling figures with you.

We drove a total of 21,672 kms or 13,530 miles.

The truck consumed 3701 liters of diesel fuel which equates of about 814 Imperial gallons. This gave us a fuel consumption of 17 litres/100 kms, or for those who still think the old way, 16.6 mpg. The total cost of the fuels was $3717,25 or $0.17/km.

We were away 92 nights and ,except for the one night at the gas station in Oregon when the truck was being repaired and the last night of the trip that we spent parked in our friends driveway in Keremeos, we were always in an organized RV park. We used just about all of our membership parks to some degree: AOR, Sunbelt, RPI and the one got the most use and provided us with excellent savings was Passport America. We spent a total of $1,311.04 on camping fees, an average of $14.25 per night.

We were able to take advantage of BC Ferries Coast Saver on our departure from the Island and also on our return. This was a great saving. Our fare was $95 against the normal of $175. Thank you BC Ferries.

It was a great trip and will provide memories and campfire stories for years to come. We are just about ready to start the camping season here on the Island with the Happy Islanders. Thanks to all of our readers and we'll be back again soon.

Home At Last after 21,000 kms

Arrived home tonight on the 3:15 ferry sailing from Tsawwassen to Duke Point. Took that one as it was a Coast Saver sailing, so $95 instead of $175 or more. We are 48 ft overall. Had spent 3 happy nights up in Kelowna at Holiday Park out in Winfield, at over 850 sites it's huge. Had very happy days and evenings spent with old friends of Di's who now both live and work there. Had a good site ourselves. Went exploring, even to Vernon and up to Silver Star Mtn, yes, it's still there, and even had snow. We didn't get out as we weren't appropriately shod for snow.

Then went and visited other RV pals of ours in Keremeos at Sunkatchers RV Co-op, that is a very well organized place, and our friends have a lovely Park Model built in the Okanagan, it's lovely, full of light, and very nicely built. Many laughs with them, we stayed overnight on their niece/nephew's lot.

Home today with no trouble, but very positive images of life in the Okanagan. We need to do a lot of considering 'what ifs' but their bright blue skies and no ferries to get off the island are very positive benefits of Okanagan living indeed.
And dry desert life has a lot to be said for it too.

Ah me, we did over 21,000 kms in all, and it was a wonderful experience. More thoughts perhaps tomorrow, now to bed.
